Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Beta 1 Screenshots

I’m downloading Lucid beta 1 right now…still 15 minutes left…

Update: I finished downloading it, tried the live cd and I hate the window controls on the left! They remain in this weird position on all the themes, so it’s not a theme issue. I know “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”… 😦

There’s an interesting discusion about this at yokozar.org.

Here are some screenshots from webupd8.org.

Yeah, the controls on the left… I’m finding that incredibly annoying. I installed some more themes and now only Ambiance and Dust do it. Which is a shame, because otherwise they are really nice themes.

The only other thing bugging me so far is how tiny the left/right window borders are – it takes me forever to find the single pixel they occupy, by which time I’ve finally remembered that it’s always faster to use the corners instead.

The theme that finally worked for me was Ubuntu Studio Theme + Dust Controls. But every now and again somehow I wind up with my controls on the left and it annoys the heck out of me 🙂

Scratch Ubuntu Studio too — the shades of gray result in lots of dialogs being unreadable, because the dialogs use similar shades of gray for text — e.g. GParted is unusable because of the combination of text colors it uses.

I’m using New Wave now … And actually, it’s kinda nice.
